Tulare County Federal Credit Union sponsored a rally which consisted of blindfolded students having to grab $50 dollars in $1 bills. This event was the first marketing strategy students developed to increase awareness of the Porterville High School Branch.
Student Financial Service Representatives (SFSR) developed the Jamba Juice promotion as an incentive for students to open new accounts. A $5 Jamba Juice gift card was given to students who opened a new account within the promotion period. The promotion was launched with a financial literacy event in the main student gathering area during lunch. Student Financial Service Representatives (SFSR) informed students about the credit union products and services. The promotion generated new accounts and branch awareness.
Bite of Reality
Tulare County Federal Credit Union (TCFCU) in partnership with the Richard Miles Johnson Foundation sponsored an event for the Partnership Academy of Business (PAB) juniors and seniors. Students experienced a life-like simulation where they received a profile and learned how to budget their income and expenses with the goal of having $100 remaining in their check register at the end of the month. Through this stimulation, students realized how difficult it can be to budget income and expenses in a responsible manner. The credit union had their own booth to guide and assist students who didn’t have sufficient funds to continue the stimulation; TCFCU was there to help students with financial struggles. Students had a real bite of reality.
SPARK Pathways Exhibition
Porterville Unified School District holds an annual exhibition to showcase the significant work that the academies are completing. Tulare County Federal Credit Union Student Financial Service Representatives operated tables demonstrating 6th grade students the skills necessary to write and record checks and deposits by playing the game of Monopoly.
Not only does Porterville High School have a full-functioning credit union on campus, but it also has an ATM that is available to the public 24 hours a day, and seven days a week. The ATM is located on the back side of the branch, facing the north parking lot.
Student Financial Service Representative, Jazmyn Torres, was the first person to withdraw money from the ATM during the unveiling ceremony.
